The Woman at the Well

John 4:5-30

The Woman at the Well is found in John’s Gospel. Jesus meets a Samaritan woman at a well and engages her in conversation. Despite societal barriers, Jesus treats her with compassion and respect, and reveals to her that he is the Messiah. She becomes a witness to his message, and many Samaritans come to believe him as a result of her testimony.

1. Breaking Barriers: Jesus connects with people from different backgrounds and social classes, reminding us of the importance of breaking down barriers in our own evangelisation efforts.

2. Compassion and Respect: Jesus shows compassion and respect for the woman at the well, modelling how we should treat others in evangelisation.

3. Revealing the Messiah: Jesus reveals to the woman at the well that he is the Messiah, highlighting the importance of proclaiming the identity of Jesus in evangelisation.

4. Witnessing: The woman at the well becomes a witness to Jesus' message, illustrating the importance of sharing our own faith experiences.
