The Great Commission

Matthew 28:18-20

The Great Commission refers to the final instructions given by Jesus to his disciples before his ascension into heaven, as recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. In these verses, Jesus commissions his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to observe all that he has commanded them. It emphasises the importance of baptism and discipleship, and the need to continue teaching and living out the faith in community. The Great Commission is considered a central aspect of the Christian mission and a call to all believers to participate in spreading the Gospel.
