Rite of Election 2021

Today, 20 February 2021, would have been a major occasion in the life of our diocese. For on the first Saturday of Lent each year, the Metropolitan Cathedral of St George (Southwark) hosts the Rite of Election and the Call to Continuing Conversion.

This year, owing to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the Cathedral celebration was cancelled and individual parishes were invited to hold the Rite locally - whether today or at another time of the year.

Although there is no major diocesan Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion at the Cathedral this year, Archbishop John Wilson has recorded a short video message of encouragement to the catechumens (those seeking Baptism and the other Sacraments of Initiation), the candidates (those seeking reception into the Church or Confirmation) and to catechists.

Please all be assured of the Agency’s prayers.
