The term kerygma encompasses the essential message of the Gospel and the core teachings of the Christian faith.

Origins in the New Testament: The Kerygma derives from the New Testament Greek word κήρυγμα (kérugma), signifying “proclamation” or “preaching.” Early in the Christian church, the Kerygma denoted the core message of salvation proclaimed by apostles and early Christian leaders. It is most succinctly expressed in John 3:16.
