JOBS: Project Workers for Catechesis and Evangelisation

We are delighted to announce two brand new roles for the Archdiocese of Southwark. Thanks to the generosity and support of the Sisters of the Holy Family of St Emilie and the Sisters of the Holy Cross we are offering two fixed-term contracts to aid our evangelisation and catechesis efforts:

1. Evangelisation Project Worker (two-year role, 2 days per week)

2. Catechesis Project Worker (three-year role, full-time)

The Agency for Evangelisation and Catechesis (AEC) has developed a strong reputation for effective and creative support for parishes in terms of Evangelisation, Catechesis, and Formation. This is chiefly expressed in the Some Definite Service approach to parish growth.

The people appointed to these posts will have a role in the ongoing development of the SDS approach and contribute to the work of the Agency and the Archdiocese in other ways. They will need to have regard to the teachings of the Catholic Church and the mission of the Archdiocese, and not do anything in any way detrimental or prejudicial to its interests or to the Catholic Church. Catechesis
Project Worker

Full-time, hybrid-working (three-year contract). £30k p.a. sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Family of St Emilie

The role holder will work closely with the Catechesis Advisor to:

• Develop and run a programme of Deanery Catechist Days 

• Visit parishes and assist them to develop Parish Plans (for Evangelisation, Catechesis and Formation)  

• Grow and support a network of Deanery Mentors for Catechesis 

• Contribute to Agency events such as the Day for Catechists 

• Work with the Catechesis Advisor to provide advice to priests and catechists 

• Undertake additional projects as agreed with the Director and Catechesis Advisor, e.g. preparation for the establishment of instituted lay ministries in the Archdiocese of Southwark or sacramental guidelines 

Evangelisation Project Worker

Part-time, hybrid-working (2-year contract). £12k p.a. sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross

The role holder will work closely with the Evangelisation Advisor to:

• Develop and run a programme of ‘Sharing Your Faith’ Workshops in each of the 20 deaneries 

• Visit parishes and assist them to develop Parish Plans (for Evangelisation, Catechesis and Formation)  

• Help to support a network of Deanery Mentors for Evangelisation as part of Some Definite Service 

• Contribute to Agency events such as the annual Evangelisation Expo 

• Undertake additional projects as agreed with the Director and Evangelisation Advisor 

• Build relationships with people passionate about evangelisation, including clergy and volunteers
